The country of Rwanda, located in East Africa, is a beautiful country with a tragic history. In 1994, the Rwandan Genocide took place, a mass slaughter of the Tutsis, one of the country’s minority ethnic groups, perpetrated by the Hutus, the majority group. Approximately 20% of the nation’s population was wiped out. After the genocide, the country’s national flag was changed to bands of colors, each highly symbolic. Blue represents peace and happiness, yellow is for economic development, and the green symbolizes hope of prosperity. AfroApparel’s Rwanda tee is simply designed with slanted bands of the national colors.
