Angola is a country in southern Africa who only gained independence in 1975, and its national flag pays tribute to that of the ruling party. The Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (or the MPLA) used a similar design. This included a star that was to represent the red star of the Soviet Union, who sponsored and supported the MPLA. The flag–and AfroApparel’s Angola tee–also features a symbol of a crossed cog wheel (which represents Angolan industry) and a machete (denoting peasantry).
